before the advents of the internet and the cell phone, our interactions with text came primarily through advertising and printed media. now, we arguably make our most personal and numerous communications using text. regardless of its specific role, however, text is an intrinsically visual platform. this series seeks to use both the visual and communicative roles of text alongside the visual and communicative roles of photographs. the text is part of the composition of each piece. like text used in advertising, here it is bold and expressive. however, unlike in advertising and more like text used for personal communication, its message and purpose is not necessarily immediately obvious. hence, room is left for the viewer to make his or her own interpretations.
